Old Europa was an imperfect place. Divisions and corruption ran centuries deep. The democracy that so many believed in, that so many hoped would rise alongside the power of new AI infrastructure, was hanging on by a thread, but it was hanging on. Elections still took place. The citizens of this super state had a choice in their leaders and had a modicum of autonomy over their lives, what they could do, how they could succeed.

After the Black Lake incident, after they implemented the Lincoln Contingency, after Core Techs burnt everything to the ground, what little autonomy, freedom, choice they had was now gone. What rose out of the hardened scoria was not a government, but a failed technocracy.

A scramble took place, a mass brawl broke out between whatever structures of power were left, and what formed was a mess of the worst and most power hungry and corrupt heathens any government has ever seen.

A technocratic dictatorship that’s fuelled on the Shroom, kept in power by their gendarmerie, ironically named The Peacekeepers. The Osiris Ministry, so named after the God of the Dead, uses unmitigated force against all citizens, even those within the factions. They have their fingers in every pie within the Triangle, working on all sides, taking kickbacks from everyone, and achieving little.

Corrupt, brutal, and little to no use to anyone, the infrastructure of the Triangle holds on by a thread. Power plants, sanitation, internet, and other amenities are technically under their control, but are almost non-existent or redundant for anyone outside of a Faction’s protection. They exist to help themselves, to ensure the structures of power within the Triangle stay the way they are, with the Ministry, sitting alongside the other powerful elites, ensuring everyone else remains buried deep within the lower layers of old Europa.
